FUNCTION
Electromagnetic flow meters measure fluid flow according to its speed. A magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the liquid direction by two coils in this device. In the process, this generates a voltage that is picked up by the electrodes as it passes through. The voltage is proportional to the velocity and, thus to the fluid flow rate.
The principle of operation is based on Faraday’s laws of electromagnetic induction. When conductive liquid flows through a nonconductive tube and is subjected to a magnetic field, it generates the voltage (E) based on the following equation:
E = k – B – I – v
The potential difference or electrode potential difference (E), is proportional to the liquid’s speed or flow rate. Magnetic field (B), generated by two copper coils. It has a constant current.
The cable length (l) refers to the distance between the electrodes or the inner diameter of the measuring tube. It is a constant value.
In the Faraday equation (v), the fluid speed is the only variable.

This flowmeter is suitable for applications such as wastewater treatment or, in general, any application involving conductive liquids or dirty water. Additionally, they accept any conductive liquid (acid, base, slurry…).
